October 30: LEMON manuals on a temporary server, it is slow and having issues, download the manuals you need! Later in November we will switch back to the fast server.
Coolant Temperature Fan Switch
- When coolant temperature fan switch is grounded, coolant fan relay is energized. When relay is energized, power is removed from coolant fan.
- When coolant temperature increases, coolant switch ground opens, de-energizing relay and activating fan motor. On all except Spectrum, coolant fan switch is located in thermostat housing on engine. On Spectrum, switch is located on radiator tank.
- To test switch, remove switch from vehicle. Using ohmmeter, ensure continuity is correct between wire connector and switch body (or 2 switch terminals on Metro and Spectrum). Switch may be gradually heated in water for testing. See COOLANT TEMPERATURE FAN SWITCH table.
