July 1: So it begins. Don't worry, this is not in the correct legal jurisdiction!

Repair Procedures: Replacement

  1. Disconnect the negative (-) battery terminal.
  2. Recover the refrigerant with a recovery/recycling/charging station.
  3. When the engine cools down, drain the engine coolant from the radiator.

    (Refer to Engine Mechanical System - "COOLANT ")

  4. Remove the cowl top cover.

    (Refer to Body - "COWL TOP COVER ")

  5. Remove the front wiper motor.

    (Refer to Body Electrical System - "FRONT WIPER MOTOR ")

  6. Loosen the mounting bolts, remove the expansion valve (A) from the evaporator core.

    Tightening torque: 

    8.8 - 13.7 N.m (0.9 - 1.4 kgf.m, 6.5 - 10.1 lb-ft)

  7. Remove the heater hose (A).

  8. Loosen the cowl cross member mounting bolts.

  9. Remove the front seat assembly.

    (Refer to Body - "FRONT SEAT ASSEMBLY ")

  10. Remove the floor console assembly.

    (Refer to Body (Interior and Exterior) - "FLOOR CONSOLE ASSEMBLY ")

  11. Remove the front pillar trim.

    (Refer to Body (Interior and Exterior) - "FRONT PILLAR TRIM ")

  12. Remove the front door scuff trim

    (Refer to Body (Interior and Exterior) - "DOOR SCUFF TRIM ")

  13. Remove the cowl side trim.

    (Refer to Body (Interior and Exterior) - "COWL SIDE TRIM ")

  14. Remove the crash pad lower panel.

    (Refer to Body (Interior and Exterior) - "CRASH PAD LOWER PANEL ")

  15. Remove the crash pad center panel.

    (Refer to Body (Interior and Exterior) - "CRASH PAD CENTER PANEL ")

  16. Remove the steering column shroud lower panel.

    (Refer to Body (Interior and Exterior) - "STEERING COLUMN SHROUD PANEL ")

  17. Remove the steering wheel.

    (Refer to Steering System - "STEERING WHEEL ")

  18. Remove the multifunction switch.

    (Refer to Body Electrical System - "MULTIFUNCTION SWITCH ")

  19. Pull down the steering column after loosening the mounting nuts and through bolts.

    (Refer to Steering System - "STEERING COLUMN AND SHAFT ")

  20. Remove the accelerator pedal plug hole (A).

  21. Remove the accelerator pedal (A) after loosen the mounting bolt and nut.

  22. Disconnect the accelerator pedal connector (A).

  23. Remove the rear air duct (B), separate the floor carpet (A).

  24. Disconnect the airbag system control module connector (A).

  25. Remove the front tunnel pad (A) by pulling direction of arrow.

  26. Remove the rear heating duct (A).

  27. Separate the rear monitor connector (A), Detach the wiring harness (B) after remove the various clips.

    NOTE:
    • (C) Take care not to change the left and right sides of the connector.
  28. Disconnect the junction box connectors (A).

  29. Disconnect the connectors (A) after loosen the mounting clip.

  30. Disconnect the multi box connectors (A).

  31. Remove the drain hose (A).

  32. Remove the blower unit lower mounting bolt (A).

    Tightening torque: 

    3.9 - 5.9 N.m (0.4 - 0.6 kgf.m, 2.9 - 4.3 lb-ft)

  33. Loosen the mounting bolts and nuts, remove the crash pad and heater & blower unit (A) together.

  34. Disconnect the various connector from the heater and blower unit.

    [Driver's side] 

    1. Press the lock pin and disconnect the console ON/OFF actuator connector (A), loosen the mounting screws, remove the console ON/OFF actuator.

    2. Loosen the mounting screw and remove the driver's side shower duct (A).

    3. Press the lock pin and disconnect the auto defogging sensor actuator connector (A) and driver's temperature control actuator connector (B).

    4. Press the lock pin and disconnect the driver's mode actuator connector (A) and (B).

    [Passenger's side] 

    1. Loosen the mounting screw and remove the passenger's side shower duct (A).

    2. Press the lock pin and disconnect the console mode actuator connector (A), console temperature control actuator A connector (B).

    3. Press the lock pin, remove the console temperature control actuator connector (A).

    4. Press the lock pin and disconnect the A/C-Heater bypass actuator connector (A).

    5. Press the lock pin and disconnect the passenger's temperature control actuator connector (A).

    6. Disconnect the power mosfet connector (A).

    7. Disconnect the vent actuator connector (A).

    8. Press the lock pin and disconnect the passenger's mode actuator connector (A).

    9. Press the lock pin and disconnect the intake actuator connector (A).

    10. Disconnect the blower motor connector (A).

    11. Loosen the IBU mounting bolt and nut, connector (A), remove the IBU unit (B).

  35. Loosen the mounting bolt (A), remove the heater & blower unit.

    Tightening torque: 

    3.9 - 5.9 N.m (0.4 - 0.6 kgf.m, 2.9 - 4.3 lb-ft)

  36. Loosen the mounting nuts and remove the heater & blower unit (A) from the crash pad.

    Tightening torque: 

    3.9 - 5.9 N.m (0.4 - 0.6 kgf.m, 2.9 - 4.3 lb-ft)

  37. Loosen the screws and remove the heater unit (A) from the heater & blower assembly.

  38. Install in the reverse order of removal.

    Information 

    • Make sure the connector are connected in properly.
    • Replace any damaged clips.
