July 1: So it begins. Don't worry, this is not in the correct legal jurisdiction!

Charge Indicator Light Inoperative

  1. Turn ignition off. Disconnect generator connector. Connect a 3-amp fused jumper wire between charge indicator light control circuit (Brown wire) and ground. Turn ignition on, engine off. If charge indicator light does not come on, go to next step. If charge indicator light does come on, go to step  3 .
  2. Check Brown wire between generator and Powertrain Control Module (PCM) or Vehicle Control Module (VCM) for open or high resistance. If problem was found, repair and go to step  5 . If problem was not found, go to step  4 .
  3. Check generator connector for poor connections. If connector is good, replace generator. See GENERATOR  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Go to step  5 .
  4. Replace PCM/VCM. See REMOVAL, OVERHAUL & INSTALLATION - CARS article in ENGINE PERFORMANCE
  5. Operate system to verify repair.
