Hall Effect Sensor: Description and Operation

The hall effect switch is used exclusively on the 2.5L S/T truck. The hall effect switch is mounted above the pick-up coil in the distributor. It takes the place of the R terminal on the ignition module. The switch is an electronic device, which puts out a voltage signal controlled by the presence or absence of a magnetic field of an electronic circuit. The system tells the ECM which cylinder to fire next.
