Cooling System Flushing

MATERIALS SPECIFICATIONS

Motorcraft® Premium Cooling System Flush VC-1 ESR-M14P7-A
    WARNING: Before beginning any service procedure in this service information, refer to Safety Warnings in SERVICE INFORMATION General Information. Failure to follow this instruction may result in serious personal injury.
  1. Refer to: ENGINE COOLING SYSTEM HEALTH AND SAFETY PRECAUTIONS .
  2. Add Motorcraft Premium Cooling System Flush to the cooling system and follow the directions on the package.

    Material: Motorcraft® Premium Cooling System Flush / VC-1 (ESR-M14P7-A)

  3. Remove the radiator.

    Refer to: Radiator  .

  4. NOTE: Radiator internal pressure must not exceed 138 kPa (20 psi), or the radiator may be damaged.
  5. Position the radiator with the upper radiator hose connection facing down. Use a high pressure water hose to backflush the radiator through the lower radiator hose connection.
  6. Remove the thermostat housing.

    Refer to: Thermostat Housing  .

  7. Position a high pressure water hose into the upper radiator hose and backflush the engine.
  8. Install the thermostat housing.

  9. Install the radiator.

    Refer to: Radiator  .

  10. Fill and bleed the cooling system.

    Refer to: Cooling System Draining and Vacuum Filling  .
