Hydraulic Control Unit (HCU): Removal

WARNING: Before beginning any service procedure in this information, refer to SAFETY WARNINGS in SERVICE INFORMATION . Failure to follow this instruction may result in serious personal injury.
NOTE: Do not spill brake fluid on painted or plastic surfaces or damage to the surface may occur. If brake fluid is spilled onto a painted or plastic surface, immediately wash the surface with water.
NOTE: The Hydraulic Control Unit (HCU) and Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) module are serviced as an assembly.
NOTE: Steps in the removal procedure may contain installation details.
  1. NOTE: This step is necessary only if a new Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) module is being installed.

    Connect the scan tool and upload the module configuration from the Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) module. For additional information, refer to MODULE CONFIGURATION .

  2. Remove the battery and battery tray. Refer to BATTERY, MOUNTING AND CABLES .

    • To install, tighten to 18 Nm (159 lb-in).

  4. To install, tighten to 25 Nm (18 lb-ft).

    • To install, tighten to 9 Nm (80 lb-in).
