Test B: Front Height Movement Inoperative

NOTE: Perform all voltage and resistance tests using a Digital Volt-Ohm Meter (DVOM) with a minimum 10-megohm input impedance, unless stated otherwise in test procedure. Use ohmmeter to isolate wiring harness shorts or opens.
  1. Disconnect front power seat height motor 2-pin harness connector C382. See Fig 1. Front power seat height motor is located under driver's seat. See Figure. Measure resistance between ground and front power seat height motor harness connector C382 terminal No. 1 (Red/Light Blue wire). Also measure resistance between ground and front power seat height motor harness connector C382 terminal No. 2 (Yellow/Light Blue wire). If either resistance is more than 5 ohms, go to next step. If both resistance are 5 ohms or less, go to step  3.
  2. Disconnect power seat control switch 8-pin harness connector C360. Measure resistance between front power seat height motor harness connector C382 terminal No. 2 and power seat control switch harness connector C360 terminal No. 7 (Red/Light Blue wire). Also measure resistance between front power seat height motor harness connector C382 terminal No. 1 and power seat control switch harness connector C360 terminal No. 5 (Yellow/Light Blue wire). See Figure and Fig 1 . If both resistances are 5 ohms or less, replace power seat control switch. See POWER SEAT CONTROL SWITCH  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If either resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open circuit in appropriate wire between front power seat height motor and power seat control switch. For POWER SEAT system circuit identification, see WIRING DIAGRAMS . After repair, test system for normal operation.
  3. Disconnect power seat control switch 8-pin harness connector C360. See Figure. Measure resistance between ground and front power seat height motor harness connector C382 terminal No. 1 (Red/Light Blue wire). See Fig 1. Also measure resistance between ground and front power seat height motor harness connector C382 terminal No. 2 (Yellow/Light Blue wire). If both resistances are more than 10 k/ohms, go to next step. If either resistance is 10 k/ohms or less, repair short circuit in appropriate wire between front power seat height motor and power seat control switch. For POWER SEAT system circuit identification, see WIRING DIAGRAMS . After repair, test system for normal operation.
  4. Connect power seat control switch harness connector C360. While pressing power seat control switch to front up position, measure voltage between ground and front power seat height motor harness connector C382 terminal No. 2 (Red/Light Blue wire). See Fig 1. If battery voltage exists, go to next step. If battery voltage does not exist, replace power seat control switch. See POWER SEAT CONTROL SWITCH  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. For POWER SEAT system circuit identification, see WIRING DIAGRAMS . After repair, test system for normal operation.
  5. While pressing power seat control switch to front down position, measure voltage between ground and front power seat height motor harness connector C382 terminal No. 1 (Yellow/Light Blue wire). See Fig 1. If battery voltage exists, replace seat track assembly. See SEAT TRACK  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If battery voltage does not exist, replace power seat control switch. See POWER SEAT CONTROL SWITCH  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. For POWER SEAT system circuit identification, see WIRING DIAGRAMS . After repair, test system for normal operation.
