Test F: One Power Window Inoperative (Passenger's Front, Left Or Right Rear)

  1. Operate inoperative power window from master window control switch located on driver's door panel. If window operates, go to next step. If window does not operate, go to step  3 .
  2. Disconnect inoperative window control switch. See POWER WINDOW SWITCH  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Ensure lock-out is disengaged on master window switch. Turn ignition switch to ON position. Measure voltage between inoperative window control switch harness connector terminal No. 3 (Red/Light Blue wire) and ground. See Fig 1 . If voltage is greater than 10 volts, replace inoperative window control switch and retest system operation. If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair open or short in Red/Light Blue wire and retest system operation.
  3. Disconnect inoperative window control switch. See POWER WINDOW SWITCH  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Measure voltage between inoperative window control switch harness connector terminals No. 1 and 6 while operating master window control switch in the UP and DOWN directions. If voltage is not present in either direction, go to next step. If voltage is present in both directions, go to step  5 .
  4. Test master window control switch. See MASTER WINDOW CONTROL SWITCH  under COMPONENT TESTS. If master window control switch fails, replace master window control switch. If master window control switch passes test, repair wiring between master window control switch and inoperative window control switch. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . Retest system operation.
  5. Disconnect inoperative window motor harness connector. Reconnect inoperative window control switch. Measure voltage between inoperative window motor harness connector terminals No. 1 (Red/Yellow wire) and No. 2 (White/Light Blue wire) while operating appropriate window control switch in the UP and DOWN directions. If voltage is not present in either direction, go to next step. If voltage is present in both directions, replace inoperative window motor and retest system operation.
  6. Test inoperative window control switch. See SINGLE SWITCH  under COMPONENT TESTS. If switch fails, replace window control switch and retest system operation. If switch passes test, repair Red/Yellow and/or White/Light Blue wires as necessary. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . Retest system operation.
