Test D: Alarm System Does Not Arm
- Press LOCK and UNLOCK buttons on Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) transmitter. If lock and unlock functions operates, go to next step. If lock and unlock functions do not operate, repair remote keyless entry system as necessary. See appropriate REMOTE KEYLESS ENTRY SYSTEMS article.
- Press UNLOCK button on RKE transmitter. Ensure all doors are closed and unlocked. While watching anti-theft indicator LED, press LOCK button on RKE transmitter. If anti-theft indicator comes on and then goes off after 30 seconds, system is okay. If vehicle is equipped with door unlock arm/disarm switches, go to next step. If anti-theft indicator stays on, perform TEST A: ANTI-THEFT INDICATOR ALWAYS ON . If anti-theft indicator does not come on, perform TEST B: ANTI-THEFT INDICATOR NEVER ON .
- Insert door key into left front door and turn to UNLOCK position. Ensure all doors are closed and unlocked. While watching anti-theft indicator, turn door key to LOCK position to arm anti-theft system. If anti-theft indicator does not come on, then go off after 30 seconds, go to next step. If anti-theft indicator comes on, then goes off after 30 seconds, go to step 7 .
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect anti-theft/central locking control module connector C451B. Ensure door key is in LOCK position. Measure resistance between anti-theft/central locking module connector C451B terminals No. 1 (White/Red wire) and No. 2 (Orange/Blue wire). If resistance is greater than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 5 ohms or less, replace anti-theft/central locking control module.
- Disconnect left door lock arm/disarm switch harness connector C708. Check switch. See DOOR LOCK ARM/DISARM SWITCH under COMPONENT TESTS. If switch is okay, go to next step. If switch is defective, replace left door lock arm/disarm switch.
- Measure resistance between anti-theft/central locking module connector C451B terminal No. 8 (Orange/Blue wire) and left front door lock arm/disarm switch connector C708 terminal No. 3 (Orange/White wire). If resistance is 5 ohms or less, repair open in White/Red or White/Violet wires. If resistance is greater than 5 ohms, repair open in Orange/White or Orange/Blue wires. Retest system operation.
- Insert door key into right front door and turn to UNLOCK position. Ensure all doors are closed and unlocked. While watching anti-theft indicator, turn door key to LOCK position to arm anti-theft system. If anti-theft indicator does not come on, then go off after 30 seconds, go to next step. If anti-theft indicator comes on, then goes off after 30 seconds, system is okay.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect anti-theft/central locking control module connector C451B. Ensure door key is in LOCK position. Measure resistance between anti-theft/central locking module connector C451B terminal No. 7 (White/Red wire) and ground. If resistance is 5 ohms or less, replace anti-theft/central locking module. Retest system operation. If resistance is greater than 5 ohms, go to next step.
- Disconnect right front door lock arm/disarm switch harness connector C1895. Test switch. See DOOR LOCK ARM/DISARM SWITCH under COMPONENT TESTS. If switch is okay, go to next step. If switch is defective, replace right door lock arm/disarm switch.
- Measure resistance between right front door lock arm/disarm switch connector C1895 terminal No. 1 (Orange/White wire) and ground. If resistance is 5 ohms or less, repair open in White/Red wire or White/Violet wire between right front door lock arm/disarm switch and anti-theft/central locking control module. If resistance is greater than 5 ohms, repair open in Orange/White wire between right front door lock arm/disarm switch and ground. Retest system operation.
