Test L: Speed Control Indicator Never/Always On

  1. Check Cruise Control Operation  - Test drive vehicle and operate cruise control. If cruise control operates properly, go to next step. If cruise control does not operate properly, perform TEST A: SPEED CONTROL INOPERATIVE.
  2. Check CRUISE Indicator  - Test drive vehicle and operate cruise control while observing CRUISE indicator. If CRUISE indicator illuminates all the time, go to next step. If CRUISE indicator is never on, go to step 5).
  3. Check Speed Control Input  - Turn ignition off. Disconnect instrument cluster connector C240 (located behind left side of instrument panel). Using an ohmmeter, check resistance between ground and instrument cluster connector C240 terminal No. 4 (Orange/Light Blue wire). If resistance is 10 k/ohms or less, go to next step. If resistance is more than 10 k/ohms, replace instrument cluster flex circuit. Repeat SELF-DIAGNOSTIC TEST  under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM. Test drive vehicle to check operation.
  4. Check Orange/Light Blue Wire For Short To Ground  - Disconnect speed control servo/actuator connector C116 (located on left side of engine compartment). Using an ohmmeter, check resistance between ground and instrument cluster connector C240 terminal No. 4. (Orange/Light Blue wire). If resistance is 10 k/ohms or less, repair short to ground in Orange/Light Blue wire. Repeat SELF-DIAGNOSTIC TEST  under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM. Test drive vehicle to check operation. If resistance is more than 10 k/ohms, replace speed control servo/actuator. Repeat SELF-DIAGNOSTIC TEST  under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM. Test drive vehicle to check operation.
  5. Check Speed Control Servo  - Turn ignition off. Disconnect speed control servo/actuator connector C116 (located on left side of engine compartment). Connect a jumper wire between ground and speed control servo/actuator connector C116 terminal No. 1 (Orange/Light Blue wire). Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Observe CRUISE indicator on instrument cluster. If CRUISE indicator illuminates, replace speed control servo/actuator. If CRUISE indicator does not illuminate, go to next step. Repeat SELF-DIAGNOSTIC TEST  under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM. Test drive vehicle to check operation.
  6. Check Orange/Light Blue Wire For Open  - Turn ignition off. Disconnect instrument cluster connector C240 (located behind left side of instrument panel). Using an ohmmeter, check resistance in Orange/Light Blue wire between speed control servo/actuator connector C116 terminal No. 1 and instrument cluster connector C240. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, repair open in Orange/Light Blue wire. Repeat SELF-DIAGNOSTIC TEST  under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM. Test drive vehicle to check operation.
  7. Check Bulb  - Remove CRUISE indicator bulb. Using an ohmmeter, check condition of bulb. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace instrument cluster flex circuit. Repeat SELF-DIAGNOSTIC TEST  under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM. Test drive vehicle to check operation. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, replace CRUISE indicator bulb. Repeat SELF-DIAGNOSTIC TEST  under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM. Test drive vehicle to check operation.
