Vacuum Control
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 1995 Lincoln Mark VIII and 1995 Lincoln Continental. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
- Remove IMRC housing. On Continental, rotate valve plates to the closed position. On Mark VIII, apply 12-20 in. Hg to vacuum inlet port. On all models, turn adjustment screw to obtain .002" (.05 mm) clearance from lever arm. See Fig 1 . To complete adjustment, rotate adjustment screw 270-360 degrees clockwise.
- When adjustment is complete, valve plates should rotate freely to open position when vacuum is released and closed position when vacuum is applied. Ensure that adjustment screw contacts lever arm when valve plates are closed.
