Vehicle Speed Sensor: Description and Operation

PURPOSE
Provides vehicle speed signal and is sent to Powertrain Control Module (PCM) for calculations requiring this input.

OPERATION
Sensor is an alternating current generator. Voltage output varies with vehicle speed.
