Alternator - MOTORCRAFT W/Integral Regulator: Description

Major components of the Motorcraft Integral Alternator-Regulator (IAR) system with external fan are: end frames, rotor, stator, rectifier assembly and electronic voltage regulator mounted on the rear of the alternator. See Figure.

The Motorcraft IAR system with internal fan is also equipped with an integral rear mount regulator. The voltage regulator is temperature compensated.
