Clutch Switch: Description and Operation

Clutch Engagement Switch (CES):

PURPOSE
The Clutch Engagement Switch (CES) detects clutch engagement and sends an input signal to the ECA. The ECA uses this input as a factor in determining engine load. Adjustments to air/fuel mixture, idle speed, and ignition timing are made accordingly.

LOCATION
Beneath dash at clutch pedal assembly.

OPERATION
This is an ON/OFF switch. Contacts are either open or closed depending on clutch pedal position.
