Glow Plug Test B - Test Lamp On Continuously

Section
- Disconnect all leads from glow plugs and do not reconnect until after system has been checked for proper operation. Connect a 12 volt test lamp to glow plug power relay output and ground. Turn ignition on, but do not start engine. Disconnect harness plug from control switch. If test lamp turns off, replace control switch and repeat Glow Plug Trouble Shooting. If test lamp does not turn off, proceed to step 2.
- With test lamp still connected, turn ignition on. Disconnect engine harness from chassis harness. If test lamp goes out, replace engine harness and proceed to step 6. If test lamp does not go out, proceed to step 3.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect signal lead from power relay. Turn ignition off. If test lamp does not go out, replace power relay and proceed with test. If test lamp goes out, repair or replace chassis wiring harness and proceed with test.
- Turn ignition off and remove test lamp from relay. Leave glow plug leads and power relay output lead disconnected. Check continuity between each glow plug lead and power relay output lead. If all resistances are less then 1 ohm, proceed to step 6. If 1 or more resistances are 1 ohm or more, proceed to step 5.
- With ignition off, disconnect engine harness from chassis harness. Disconnect chassis harness fusible links from chassis harness. Check resistance of fusible links. If resistance is less than 1 ohm, replace engine wiring harness and proceed to step 6. If resistance is 1 ohm or more, replace fusible link(s) as necessary and return to step 4.
- With ignition off and all glow plugs disconnected, check resistance between each glow plug terminal and metal shell of glow plug. If all resistances are less than 2 ohms, glow plug system is ok. Reconnect harness and repeat trouble shooting procedure. If 1 or more resistance is 2 ohms or more, replace affected glow plugs. Reconnect harness and repeat trouble shooting procedure.
