Idle Air Control Motor
- To check idle air control motor resistance, disconnect connector at idle air control motor. Idle air control motor is mounted on throttle body and contains a 6-pin Black connector.
- Install Test Harness (MD998463) on idle air control motor. Using ohmmeter, check resistance between terminals No. 1 (Red clip) and No. 2 (White clip) on test harness and then between terminals No. 2 (White clip) and No. 3 (Blue clip) on test harness. Perform STEP 1. See Fig 1
. Resistance should be 28-33 ohms at 68°F (20°C).
- Using ohmmeter, check resistance between terminals No. 4 (Black clip) and No. 5 (Green clip) on test harness and then between terminals No. 5 (Green Clip) and No. 6 (Yellow clip) on test harness. Perform STEP 2. See Fig 1
. Resistance should be 28-33 ohms at 68°F (20°C).
- If resistance is within specification, go to next step. If resistance is not within specification, replace idle air control motor.

- To check idle air control motor operation, remove idle air control motor from throttle body. Install Test Harness (MD998463) on idle air control motor.
- Connect positive terminal of a 6-volt battery to White and Green clips on test harness. See Fig 2
.
- Connect negative terminal of 6-volt battery to specified clips on test harness in proper sequence. See IDLE AIR CONTROL MOTOR GROUNDING SEQUENCE table. See Fig 2
.

- When connecting negative terminal to specified clips on test harness, idle air control motor should operate. A slight vibration will exist at idle air control motor and the pintle on idle air control motor should move.
- Replace idle air control motor if defective. Remove test harness. Reinstall idle air control motor.
