Power Door Lock Test 1A - Identifying Power Door Lock Problems
NOTE:
Perform SYMPTOM ID TEST 1A before proceeding with this test. For connector terminal identification and wiring diagrams, see appropriate sections in this article. Perform VERIFICATION TEST VER-1A after each repair.
CAUTION:
Always turn ignition switch to OFF position prior to disconnecting or connecting any module connector.
- Using scan tool, read trouble codes. If any door lock code(s) are present, go to POWER DOOR LOCK TEST 1B. If no codes are present, lower both front windows. Remove key from ignition. Close all doors. Lock and unlock doors from all door switches. If door locks operate properly, go to next step. If any door(s) fail to lock or unlock properly, go to appropriate test. See POWER DOOR LOCK SYSTEM DIAGNOSTIC TEST DIRECTORY table.
- Insert key in ignition switch. Open left front door. Using door lock switch, lock doors. Doors should not lock. If doors did not lock, go to next step. If doors lock, go to POWER DOOR LOCK TEST 26A.
- If vehicle is not equipped with Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) system, go to next step. If vehicle is equipped with RKE, operate door locks using transmitter. If door lock system does not operate correctly, go to appropriate REMOTE ENTRY SYSTEM article. If no problems are found and system still does not operate correctly, go to POWER DOOR LOCK TEST 27A.
- Close and unlock all doors. Drive vehicle at a speed greater than 15 MPH. If doors do not lock, go to POWER DOOR LOCK TEST 28A. If doors lock, system is currently functioning correctly.
