Automatic Idle Speed (AIS) Motor
The AIS motor is operated by the Single Module Engine Controller (SMEC). The SMEC uses input information from the various sensors to determine idle speed. The AIS motor meters a portion of the air/fuel mixture through an air by-pass in the throttle body. An increase or decrease in the amount of air/fuel mixture through the air by-pass is used to control idle speed.
