Vehicle Speed

The vehicle speed sensor signal is converted into mph or km/in for display. The vehicle speed output from ECM is 4000 pulses per mile. The scan tool uses class 2 serial data from ECM to obtain vehicle speed, while Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC), cruise control module and chime alarm module use 4000 ppm output.
