Hood Ajar Circuit Open
NOTE:
After making any repairs, perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST under VERIFICATION TESTS.
- Open hood. Using scan tool, select INPUTS/OUTPUTS and monitor HOOD AJAR SW state. If scan tool does not display HOOD AJAR SW state CLOSED, go to next step. If scan tool displays HOOD AJAR SW state CLOSED, system is operating properly at this time. Check for intermittent poor connections or faulty circuits.
- Disconnect hood ajar switch connector. See COMPONENT LOCATIONS . Using a test light connected to battery voltage, probe hood ajar switch connector terminal No. 2 (Black/Light Blue wire). If test light illuminates, go to next step. If test light does not illuminate, repair open in Black/Light Blue wire between hood ajar switch and ground connection located on left "B" pillar.
- Using scan tool, monitor HOOD AJAR SW state. Connect a jumper wire between hood ajar switch connector terminals. If scan tool does not display HOOD AJAR SW state CLOSED, go to next step. If scan tool displays HOOD AJAR SW state CLOSED, replace hood ajar switch.
- Locate and disconnect Body Control Module (BCM) connector C3. See COMPONENT LOCATIONS . See Figure. Using DVOM, measure resistance of Violet/Light Blue wire between hood ajar switch and BCM connector C3 terminal No. 30. If resistance is 5 ohms or less, replace BCM. See BODY CONTROL MODULE under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If resistance is greater than 5 ohms, repair open in Violet/Light Blue wire between hood ajar switch and BCM.
