Engine Controls - System & Component Testing - Coupe - 2.4L: Introduction

CAUTION: Obtain radio anti-theft code before disconnecting battery. If replacing ECM/PCM on models equipped with an immobilizer system, secret key data must also be updated to enable engine starting. To update secret key data, see PROGRAMMING under COMPUTERIZED ENGINE CONTROLS in REMOVAL, OVERHAUL & INSTALLATION - SEBRING COUPE & STRATUS COUPE article.

Before testing separate components or systems, perform procedures in BASIC DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURES - SEBRING COUPE & STRATUS COUPE article. Since many computer-controlled and monitored components set a Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) if they malfunction, see SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM in SELF-DIAGNOSTICS - SEBRING COUPE & STRATUS COUPE - 2.4L article. If no DTCs are set, vehicle may be diagnosed by symptom. For diagnosing by symptom, go to appropriate TROUBLE SHOOTING - NO CODES article.
