July 1: So it begins. Don't worry, this is not in the correct legal jurisdiction!

Wipers Inoperative

  1. Check fuse No. 5 (10-amp) in junction block and fuse "M" (40-amp) in power distribution center. See Figure and Figure . If fuses are okay, go to next step. If either fuse is blown, replace fuse and check system operation. If wipers are still inoperative and fuses are okay, go to step  3 . If replacement fuse blows, go to next step.
  2. If fuse No. 5 blows, check for short in Dark Blue wire between junction block connector C2 terminal No. 7 and wiper/washer switch connector terminal No. 1. See Figure and Fig 1 . If fuse "M" blows, check for short to ground in Red/Orange wire between PDC and intermittent wiper relay connector terminals "A" or "D" and wiper HIGH/LOW wiper relay connector terminal "A". See Figure .
  3. Disconnect wiper motor connector. Connect a jumper wire between positive battery terminal and wiper motor terminal No. 2 (component side). See Fig 2 . Connect another jumper wire between negative battery terminal and wiper motor terminal No. 5 (component side). If wipers operate at low speed, go to next step. If wipers do not operate at low speed, replace wiper motor. See WIPER MOTOR  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
  4. Connect positive jumper wire to wiper motor terminal No. 1 (component side). Connect negative jumper wire to wiper motor terminal No. 5 (component side). If wipers operate at high speed, go to next step. If wipers do not operate at high speed, replace wiper motor. See WIPER MOTOR  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
  5. Check continuity between ground and wiper motor connector terminal No. 5 (Black wire). If continuity exists, go to next step. If continuity does not exist, repair open in Black wire.
  6. Remove intermittent wiper relay. Turn wiper/washer switch on. Check for resistance at intermittent wiper relay connector terminals "A" (Red/Orange wire) and "D" (Red/Orange wire). If battery voltage exists, go to next step. If battery voltage does not exist, repair open in Red/Orange wire between fuse "M" and intermittent wiper relay connector. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  .
  7. Remove HIGH/LOW wiper relay. Check continuity in Red/Yellow wire between HIGH/LOW wiper relay connector terminal "D" and wiper motor connector terminal No. 1. Check continuity in Brown/White wire between HIGH/LOW wiper relay connector terminal "E" and wiper motor connector terminal No. 2. If continuity exists, go to next step. If continuity does not exist, repair open in Red/Yellow wire and/or Brown/White wire.
  8. Check continuity in Dark Green wire between HIGH/LOW wiper relay connector terminal "B" and intermittent wiper relay connector terminal "B". If continuity does not exist, repair open in Dark Green wire. If continuity exists, check for faulty relays. If relays are okay, go to next step.
  9. Turn ignition off. Disconnect Body Control Module (BCM) White connector C3. Check continuity in Red/Violet wire between BCM connector C3 terminal No. 4 and intermittent wiper relay connector terminal "C". See Figure . If continuity exists, go to next step. If continuity does not exist, repair open in Red/Violet wire.
  10. Disconnect BCM Black connector C2. Check voltage at BCM connector C2 terminal No. 8 (Dark Green/Red wire). Turn ignition on. Slowly move wiper/washer switch from OFF position through each position to HIGH position. If zero volts exist, go to next step. If voltage increases from zero volts to about 10 volts in HIGH position, replace BCM. See BODY CONTROL MODULE  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
  11. Turn ignition off. Check continuity in Dark Green/Red wire between BCM connector C2 terminal No. 8 and wiper/washer switch connector terminal No. 3. See Figure . If continuity exists, go to next step. If continuity does not exist, repair open in Dark Green/Red wire.
  12. Turn ignition on. Measure voltage at wiper/washer switch connector terminal No. 1 (Dark Blue wire). If battery voltage exists, replace wiper/washer switch. If battery voltage does not exist, repair open in Dark Blue wire between junction block connector C2 terminal No. 7 and wiper/washer switch connector terminal No. 1.
