Removal & Installation: CLOCKSPRING: Installation

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2004 Dodge Intrepid, 2004 Chrysler Intrepid, 2004 Chrysler Concorde, and 2004 Chrysler 300M. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Ensure steering wheel is half turn (180 degrees) to right from straight ahead position and steering column is locked with ignition switch. Position clockspring onto steering shaft and install retaining screws. Center clockspring. See CLOCKSPRING CENTERING  under ADJUSTMENTS.
  2. Connect clockspring wiring connector. Position steering wheel to shaft. Align flats on steering wheel hub with formations inside clockspring. Pull clockspring wiring harness through large hole in steering wheel hub.
  3. To install, reverse removal procedure. Tighten clockspring retaining screws to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS . DO NOT connect battery at this time. Perform air bag system check to ensure system is functioning properly. See AIR BAG SYSTEM CHECK  under SYSTEM OPERATION CHECK.
