Power Door Lock Test 3A - All Doors Fail To Lock & Unlock From One Switch

NOTE: Perform POWER DOOR LOCK TEST 1A  before proceeding with this test. For connector terminal identification, refer to CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION  . For wiring diagrams, refer to WIRING DIAGRAMS  . Perform, after each repair, TEST VER-1A - VERIFICATION PROCEDURE  .
CAUTION: Always turn ignition switch to OFF position prior to disconnecting or connecting any module connector.
  1. If vehicle is not equipped with Vehicle Theft Security System (VTSS), go to next step. If vehicle is equipped with VTSS and problem is with either front door lock cylinder switch, go to appropriate test:
  2. Using scan tool, read door lock switch voltage while holding suspect door lock switch in LOCK position. If voltage is 9 volts or less, go to next step. If voltage is more than 9 volts, replace BCM.
  3. Disconnect BCM 20-pin connector located at junction block and ensure connector is clean and not damaged. See Figure in CHIME TEST 3A. Using scan tool in voltmeter mode, measure voltage at either terminal No. 8 (White/Dark Green wire) for left front door or terminal No. 18 (White/Light Green wire) for right front door on BCM 20-pin connector. Hold suspect door lock switch in LOCK position and measure voltage. If voltage is 9 volts or less, go to next step. If voltage is more than 9 volts, replace BCM.
  4. Disconnect suspect door lock switch connector and ensure connector is clean and not damaged. Using scan tool in voltmeter mode, measure voltage at terminal No. 1 (Pink wire) on suspect door switch connector. If voltage is more than 10 volts, go to next step. If voltage is 10 volts or less, repair open in Pink wire circuit.
  5. Using an external ohmmeter, measure resistance of White/Dark Green wire between terminal No. 4 on left door switch connector and terminal No. 8 on BCM 20-pin connector. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open in left door lock switch circuit. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace left door lock switch.
  6. Using an external ohmmeter, measure resistance of White/Light Green wire between terminal No. 4 on right door switch connector and terminal No. 18 on BCM 20-pin connector. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open in right door lock switch circuit. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace right door lock switch.
