Test 134C - Bus Short To 5 Volts
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 1997 Eagle Vision, 1997 Dodge Intrepid, 1997 Chrysler LHS, and 1997 Chrysler Concorde. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
- Using an external ohmmeter, measure resistance between BCM Gray connector, terminal No. 13 (Light Green/Black wire) and BCM Bone connector, terminal No. 8 (Violet/Brown wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short between Light Green/Black wire and Violet/Brown wire. If resistance is 5 ohms or greater, go to next step.
- Measure resistance between BCM Gray connector, terminal No. 13 (Light Green/Black wire) and BCM Bone connector, terminal No. 7 (White/Black wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short between Light Green/Black wire and White/Black wire. If resistance is 5 ohms or greater, go to next step.
- Measure resistance between BCM Gray connector, terminal No. 5 (Light Green/Red wire) and BCM Bone connector, terminal No. 8 (Violet/Brown wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short between Light Green/Red wire and Violet/Brown wire. If resistance is 5 ohms or greater, go to next step.
- Measure resistance between BCM Gray connector, terminal No. 5 (Light Green/Red wire) and BCM Bone connector, terminal No. 7 (White/Black wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short between Light Green/Red wire and White/Black wire. If resistance is 5 ohms or greater, go to next step.
- Measure resistance between BCM Bone connector, terminals No. 20 (Light Blue wire) and No. 8 (Violet/Brown wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short between Light Blue wire and Violet/Brown wire. If resistance is 5 ohms or greater, go to next step.
- Measure resistance between BCM Bone connector, terminals No. 20 (Light Blue wire) and No. 7 (White/Black wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short between Yellow/Red wire and White/Black wire. If resistance is 5 ohms or greater, replace BCM.
NOTE:
For connector terminal ID, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION
. For wiring schematics, see WIRING DIAGRAMS
in this article. Perform TEST VER-1 - VERIFICATION PROCEDURE
after each repair.
CAUTION:
Always turn ignition off prior to disconnecting any module connector.
