Test 1A: Identifying Vehicle Equipment & System Problems

NOTE: Perform a visual inspection before proceeding.
NOTE: Technical service bulletins may be published that address the problems listed below. Always refer to the most current information available relating to these items.
  1. Connect the DRB to the CCD data link connector. See Fig 1. If the DRB screen is blank, perform TEST 108A .
  2. Turn the ignition switch on. With the DRB, select BODY SYSTEM and BODY COMPUTER. The DRB will perform a CCD bus test. If the DRB fails to show BUS OPERATIONAL, refer to the Vehicle Communications Manual.
  3. If the DRB shows NO RESPONSE, perform TEST 106A .
  4. With the DRB, select READ DTC's. If any diagnostic trouble codes are present perform TEST 1B: IDENTIFYING DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES .
  5. The following is a list of problems that may occur on the vehicle that are diagnosable via the CCD data link connector using a DRB. These problems may occur separately or in various combinations. When diagnosing a system with many apparent problems, a certain sequence of test may be required. The beginning of each test will indicate whether another test should be performed first. Make the required repairs, and verify that the problem or group of problems has been corrected.
