Test VER-3A, Charging System Verification Procedure

  1. Ensure all engine components are connected. If Powertrain Control Module (PCM) has been changed and vehicle is equipped with anti-theft system, start vehicle at least 20 times to activate anti-theft system. Connect scan tool to PCM DLC, and erase trouble codes.
  2. Ensure no other charging system problems remain by doing the following:
    • Start engine.
    • Manually increase engine to 2000 RPM for at least 30 seconds.
    • Allow engine to idle and turn engine off.
    • Turn ignition off.
    • Connect scan tool to DLC and read trouble codes.
  3. If previously repaired trouble code has reset or another trouble code has set, check all related TECH SERVICE BULLETINS and return to TEST TC-1A, CHECKING SYSTEM FOR TROUBLE CODES  if necessary. If there are no other trouble codes, repair is complete.
