Test 13A - Diagnosing Parking Brake Warning Lamp
NOTE:
For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION
. For wiring diagrams, see WIRING DIAGRAMS
. Perform TEST VER-1 after each repair.
CAUTION:
Always turn ignition switch to OFF position prior to disconnecting any module connector.
- If vehicle is equipped with Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS), see ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM article in BRAKES section. If vehicle is not equipped with ABS, disengage parking brake if set. Ensure parking brake lever moves freely. If BRAKE warning lamp does not illuminate with empty brake fluid reservoir, go to TEST 13B. Turn ignition switch to ON position. If BRAKE warning lamp illuminates, go to TEST 14A . If BRAKE warning lamp does not illuminate, go to next step.
- Depress parking brake. If BRAKE warning lamp does not illuminate, go to TEST 13C. If BRAKE warning lamp does not illuminate, release parking brake. Crank engine while monitoring BRAKE warning lamp. If BRAKE warning lamp does not illuminate, go to TEST 13D . If BRAKE warning lamp illuminates, system is operating properly at this time.
