Test 16A - Repairing RKE Arm Function
CAUTION:
Always turn ignition switch to OFF position prior to disconnecting or connecting any module connector.
- If problem exists with disarm function, go to TEST 16B. If problem exists with arm function, turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) module connector. See Fig 1 . Turn ignition switch to ON position. Go to next step.
- Using DRB in voltmeter mode, check voltage on RKE module connector terminal "A" (Pink wire). If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair open Pink wire. If voltage is more than 10 volts, go to next step
- Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Using DRB in ohmmeter mode, check resistance of RKE module connector terminal "H" (Black wire). If resistance is more than 15 ohms, repair open Black wire. If resistance is less than 15 ohms, go to next step.
- Check resistance of RKE module connector terminal "C" (Orange/White wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in Orange/White wire. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, go to next step.
- Connect jumper wire between RKE module connector terminals "A" (Pink wire) and "C" (Orange/White wire). If Vehicle Theft Security System (VTSS) indicator lamp flashes, replace RKE module. If VTSS indicator lamp does not flash, remove jumper wire and go to next step.
- Using DRB in voltmeter mode, check voltage on RKE module terminal "C" (Orange/White wire). While monitoring DRB, depress door lock switch to LOCK position. If voltage is less than 9 volts, repair open Orange/White wire. If voltage is more than 9 volts, replace body control module.
