Test SC-2A - Cruise Control On/Off Switch
NOTE:
Perform TEST SC-1A
before proceeding. After each repair, perform TEST SC-VER
.
NOTE:
For connector terminal identification, refer to CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION
. For wiring diagrams, see WIRING DIAGRAM
.
- Turn ignition switch to ON position. Using DRB, read cruise control switch voltage. If voltage is more than 4 volts, go to step 4). If voltage is less than 4 volts, disconnect cruise control SET/RESUME switch connector.
- Using DRB, read cruise control switch voltage. If voltage is more than 4 volts, replace cruise control SET/RESUME switch. If voltage is less than 4 volts, Turn ignition switch to OFF position.
- Disconnect Powertrain Control Module (PCM) connector. PCM is located under air cleaner. Using DRB in ohmmeter mode, check resistance of PCM connector terminal No. 23 (Red/Light Green wire). If resistance is less than 5100 ohms, repair short to ground in Red/Light Green wire. If resistance is more than 5100 ohms, replace PCM.
- If voltage is more than 4 volts in step 1), disconnect cruise control ON/OFF switch. Connect a jumper wire between cruise control switch connector terminals No. 1 (Black wire) and No. 2 (White wire). Using DRB, read cruise control switch voltage. If voltage is less than one volt, replace cruise control ON/OFF switch.
- If voltage is more than one volt, remove jumper wire. Using DRB in voltmeter mode, check voltage on cruise control switch connector terminal No. 2 (White wire). If voltage is more than 4 volts, repair open Black wire. If voltage is less than 4 volts, replace PCM.
