July 1: So it begins. Don't worry, this is not in the correct legal jurisdiction!

Test 23A - EIC Illumination Upon Entry

  1. Turn ignition off. Close all doors and wait 4 minutes. Open left front door. If Electronic Instrument Cluster (EIC) illuminates, cluster illumination upon entry system is operational. Retest system.
  2. If EIC does not illuminate, turn ignition on (engine off). Close left front door. Using DRB-II, read left front door jamb switch status. If DRB-II displays CIRCUIT OPEN, go to step 5).
  3. If DRB-II does not display CIRCUIT OPEN, disconnect left front door jamb switch. If DRB-II displays CIRCUIT OPEN, replace left front door jamb switch. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1. If DRB-II does not display CIRCUIT OPEN, turn ignition off.
  4. Disconnect Body Control Module (BCM) Black connector. BCM is located behind right side kick panel. Check condition of connector, and clean or repair connector as necessary. With DRB-II in ohmmeter mode, check resistance on terminal No. 13 (Black/Light Blue wire) of BCM Black connector. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair Black/Light Blue wire. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, replace BCM. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1.
  5. If DRB-II displayed CIRCUIT OPEN in step 2), disconnect left front door jamb switch. Connect jumper wire between terminal No. 1 (Black/Light Blue wire) and terminal No. 2 (Black wire) of left front door jamb switch connector. If DRB-II displays CIRCUIT CLOSED, replace left front door jamb switch. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1.
  6. If DRB-II does not display CIRCUIT CLOSED, connect jumper wire between terminal No. 1 (Black/Light Blue wire) of left front door jamb switch connector and ground. If DRB-II displays CIRCUIT CLOSED, repair open Black wire. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1.
  7. If DRB-II does not display CIRCUIT CLOSED, disconnect jumper wire. Access BCM, but DO NOT  disconnect BCM connectors. Connect jumper wire between terminal No. 13 (Black/Light Blue wire) of BCM Black connector and ground. If DRB-II displays CIRCUIT CLOSED, repair open Black/Light Blue wire. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1.
  8. If DRB-II does not display CIRCUIT CLOSED, turn ignition off. Disconnect both BCM connectors. Check condition of connectors, and clean or repair connectors as necessary. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1. If connector condition is okay, replace BCM. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1.
