No Start Test 7A - Distributor Pick-Up Coil Resistance Check
- Disconnect distributor pick-up coil connector. Connect an ohmmeter between terminals of the pick-up coil connector. Ohmmeter reading should be 150-900 ohms. If there is zero resistance, an open circuit or resistance is not within specifications, replace pick-up coil.
- If resistance is okay, reconnect distributor pick-up coil connector. Disconnect the computer 10-way connector. Connect an ohmmeter between 10-way connector cavities "5" and "9". Ohmmeter reading should be 150-900 ohms.
- If there is zero resistance, open circuit or not within specifications, replace pick-up coil. If resistance is okay, check distributor pick-up coil air gap. If okay, proceed to NO START TEST 7B .
