Ignition Hall Effect Sensor: Description and Operation

The Hall Effect pickup assembly, located in the distributor, supplies basic timing signal and engine speed to the computer. Also, the computer can determine from this signal engine RPM, when each piston is coming up on its compression stroke, or when the engine is in the cranking mode.
