Installation Procedure
WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
- Clean the contact surfaces between the transmission and the power transfer unit case.
Support the power transfer unit case with a suitable jack, and secure with suitable straps.
- Raise and align the power transfer unit case in the correct position in relation to the transmission.
- Install the wire harness to the power transfer unit.
- Install the power transfer unit case (1) to the transmission.
- CAUTION:
Refer to Fastener Caution .
Install the 3 power transfer unit bolts (1) and tighten to 100 N.m (74 lb ft).
- Connect all necessary electrical connectors and wiring harness retainers.
Install the secondary oxygen sensor wiring harness clip bracket (2).
- Install the secondary oxygen sensor wiring harness clip bolt (1) and tighten to 9 N.m (80 lb in).
Connect the power transfer unit case vent hose (1) to the power transfer unit case (2).
- Install the transfer case bracket. Transfer Case Bracket Replacement (With LGX Engine) , or Transfer Case Bracket Replacement (With LCV Engine)
Install the power transfer unit bolt (1) and tighten to 100 N.m (74 lb ft).
- Install the transmission rear mount bracket. Transmission Rear Mount Bracket Replacement (All Wheel Drive)
Install the power transfer unit bolt (1) and tighten to 100 N.m (74 lb ft).
- Install the warm up three way catalytic converter. Warm Up Three-Way Catalytic Converter Replacement (Bank 1, LGX) , or Warm Up Three-Way Catalytic Converter Replacement (LCV) , or Warm Up Three-Way Catalytic Converter Replacement (LSY) , or Warm Up Three-Way Catalytic Converter Replacement (Bank 2, LGX)
- Connect the two piece propeller shaft to the power transfer unit case. Two-Piece Propeller Shaft Replacement
- Check power transfer unit case fluid level. Approximate Fluid Capacities , and Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants, and Sealers
