Removal Procedure

    Fig 1: Turn Signal Switch Bracket

    NOTE:

    For vehicles fitted with SMART KEY, ensure the electric steering lock mechanism is UNLOCKED before disabling the SIR System. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling .

    NOTE:

    Upon completing this procedure, leave the steering column in the fully lowered and extended position to aid further procedures.

  1. Remove Turn Signal Switch Bracket (1) - Turn Signal Switch Bracket Replacement

  35. Disconnect the data link connector.

    NOTE:

    These screws are longer than all other instrument panel assembly fasteners.

  37. Remove Instrument Panel Bolt (1) (Qty: 4)

  43. Disconnect the selector lever housing (2) from the base (1) by depressing the four retaining tabs (3). Automatic Transmission Shift Lock Control Actuator Replacement
  44. Disconnect the electrical connectors.

  50. Remove Instrument Panel Bolt (1) (Qty: 2)
  51. Remove Instrument Panel Airbag Inflatable Bolt (2) (Qty: 2)
  52. Remove the electrical connector to the instrument panel inflatable restraint module airbag inflatable.
  53. Remove the upper right duct air temperature sensor connector.

  57. Note the location and routing of the instrument panel wiring harness prior to removal to ensure proper installation.
  58. Apply tape to the steering column adjustment lever and the surrounding edges of the instrument panel to prevent marring.
  59. Ensure all instrument panel assembly dowels (side and centre) are released.
  60. Disconnect the wiring connector to the accessory power receptacle/cigar lighter.
  61. Loosen and raise the instrument panel assembly (1) to allow access to disconnect the wiring harness from the instrument panel assembly at the indicated points.
  62. With the aid of an assistant, raise the instrument panel assembly (1) clear of the gear shifter, over the steering column and then remove from the vehicle.
  63. When replacing the instrument panel assembly (1), transfer all necessary components.
