Removal Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2006 Buick LaCrosse and 2006 Buick Allure. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
    CAUTION: Refer to SIR Caution in Cautions and Notices.
  1. Disable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling Zone 3 in SIR.
  2. Remove the steering column trim covers. Refer to Steering Column Trim Covers Replacement (Manual Tilt) in Steering Wheel and Column.

  4. Remove the steering column wiring harness tie straps (1,2).

  6. Disconnect the module electrical connectors (2).

    IMPORTANT: Note the direction that the steering column wiring harness is routed for re-installation.
  8. Open the wire harness shield (1) at the lower steering column and remove the wire harness (2).

  10. Disconnect the electrical connectors (1,3) from the windshield wiper and washer switch.

  12. Depress the locking tab (2) on the windshield wiper and washer switch (1) and remove the switch from the steering column.
