Removal Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Pontiac Montana, 2002 Oldsmobile Silhouette, and 2002 Chevrolet Venture. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Disable the SIR system. Refer to Disabling the SIR System .
  2. Remove the inflatable restraint steering wheel module. Refer to Inflatable Restraint Steering Wheel Module Replacement .
  3. Remove the steering wheel. Refer to STEERING WHEEL REPLACEMENT .
  4. Remove the upper and lower steering column shrouds.
  5. Disconnect the radio steering wheel controls inline connector C205 located at the base of the steering column.

  6. Remove the wiring harness straps from the steering wheel column wiring harness.
  7. Remove the retaining ring.
  8. Remove the inflatable restraint steering wheel module coil from the steering shaft.
