Power Seat System Diagnostic System Check
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC). DLC is located below left side of instrument panel, to right of steering column. See Figure. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. If scan tool powers up, go to next step. If scan tool does not power up, perform TEST F: SCAN TOOL DOES NOT POWER UP under SYSTEM TESTS in BODY CONTROL MODULES - MONTANA, SILHOUETTE & VENTURE article.
- Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Try to establish scan tool communication with Memory Seat Module (MSM) and Powertrain Control Module (PCM). If communication with both modules is established, go to next step. If communication with both modules is not established, perform TEST E: SCAN TOOL DOES NOT COMMUNICATE WITH CLASS 2 DEVICE under SYSTEM TESTS in BODY CONTROL MODULES - MONTANA, SILHOUETTE & VENTURE article.
- Select DISPLAY DTC function. Record all displayed DTCs and status of displayed DTCs. If any DTCs are displayed, go to next step. If no DTCs are displayed, repair power seat system by symptom. See SYMPTOM INDEX under SYSTEM TESTS.
- If scan tool does not display any DTCs that begin with "U", go to next step. If scan tool displays any DTCs that begin with "U", perform TEST E: SCAN TOOL DOES NOT COMMUNICATE WITH CLASS 2 DEVICE under SYSTEM TESTS in BODY CONTROL MODULES - MONTANA, SILHOUETTE & VENTURE article.
- If scan tool does not display DTC B1000, go to next step. If scan tool displays DTC B1000, perform DTC B1000: CONTROL MODULE MALFUNCTION under DIAGNOSTIC TESTS in BODY CONTROL MODULES - MONTANA, SILHOUETTE & VENTURE article.
- If scan tool displays DTC P0560, perform appropriate test in accordance with DTC retrieved. See GENERATORS & REGULATORS article in STARTING & CHARGING SYSTEMS. If scan tool does not display DTC P0560, perform appropriate test in accordance with DTC retrieved. See DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE DEFINITIONS table.
