Coolant Temperature Sensor/Switch (For Computer): Service and Repair

REMOVAL PROCEDURE

NOTE: Use care when handling the coolant sensor. Damage to the coolant sensor will affect the operation of the fuel control system.




1. Relieve the coolant system pressure.
2. Drain the coolant to below the level of the ECT sensor.
3. Remove the air cleaner outlet resonator.
4. Remove the ECT sensor harness connector.




5. Remove the ECT sensor.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE




1. Only coat the threads with sealer.

NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

2. Install the ECT sensor.

Tighten
Tighten the sensor to 25 N.m (18.5 lb ft).




3. Install the harness connector.
4. Install the air cleaner outlet resonator.
5. Refill the lost coolant.
6. Inspect the ECT sensor for leaks.
