July 1: So it begins. Don't worry, this is not in the correct legal jurisdiction!

Drive Assembly Check

  1. Drive assembly clutch pinion should turn freely in overrunning direction (clockwise) only. Check pinion teeth for chips, cracks or excessive wear. Chipped teeth may indicate defective ring gear.
  2. Check drive assembly for slipping. With drive assembly attached to armature, cover armature with shop towels and secure in a vise. Using a 12-point socket and a torque wrench, turn pinion counterclockwise. Pinion should lock and withstand a torque of 50 ft. lbs. (68 N.m) If pinion slips before 50 ft. lbs. (68 N.m) is reached, replace drive assembly.
