Code A015 - Enable Relay Contacts Shorted To Battery: Notes
Ignition voltage is supplied through terminal No. 5 of enable relay. EBCM energizes enable relay pull-in coil by completing ground circuit at EBCM terminal F3. The magnetic field created will close enable relay contacts to supply battery voltage to EBCM, providing power to motors and solenoids.
This code determines if enable relay is energized when required. Fault Code A015 prevents enable relay from removing power from ABS system. If a second fault occurs and turns enable relay off, fault cannot be removed if relay cannot be controlled. Code A015 will set after 3 drive cycles. Once Code A015 is set, ABS warning light will flash to indicate malfunction, but ABS system will not be disabled.
NOTE:
Test numbers refer to numbers on diagnostic chart.
- This step determines if EBCM is capable of controlling enable relay.
- This step checks for short to battery in circuit No. 850 (Red/White wire).
- This step checks if circuit No. 879 (Purple/White wire) is shorted to ground.
- This step determines if short to battery is in circuit No. 850 (Red/White wire) or EBCM.
- This step checks for intermittents in wiring or connectors.
