Inner Tie Rod End: Reassembly

  1. Install shock damper ring on rack. Install inner tie rod on rack. Tighten inner tie rod to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  at end of article. Ensure inner tie rod moves freely in housing.
  2. Support inner tie rod housing. Stake BOTH sides of inner tie rod housing to flat areas on the rack. Ensure a .010" (.25 mm) feeler gauge will not slide between rack and staked area on inner tie rod housing.
  3. Slide shock damper ring onto inner tie rod housing until it engages. To reassemble remaining components, reverse disassembly procedure.
