Circuit/System Testing
- Ignition ON, verify DTC P0617 is set as current.
- Ignition OFF, disconnect the starter relay, test for 60-80 ohms of resistance between relay terminals 85 and 86.
- If not within the specified range, replace the starter relay.
- Ignition ON, test for B+ between the starter relay coil supply voltage circuit terminal 86 and ground.
- If less than the specified value, test the supply voltage circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance.
- Ignition ON, connect a test lamp between the starter relay coil supply voltage terminal 86 and the starter relay control circuit terminal 85. Apply the brake pedal and place the ignition mode switch to the start position. The test lamp should only illuminate when the ignition is held in the start position.
- If the test lamp is always ON, test the control circuit for short to ground.
- If the test lamp is always OFF, test the control circuit for a short to voltage or an open/ high resistance.
- If the circuit tests nor mal, replace the ECM.
