Fluid Level Sensor

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 1990 Cadillac Allante. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

A fluid level sensor is included in the reservoir cap. This sensor consists of a float and reed switch which closes a switch when low fluid is detected. This signal is used as an input to the BCM and the EBCM. A low fluid input to the BCM will cause the LOW BRAKE FLUID message to be displayed on the CCDIC at key-on. The EBCM will disable anti-lock function and turn on the Red BRAKE warning lamp. The fluid level sensor may be serviced as a part of the reservoir cap.
