Radiator Cooling Fan Control Module: Description and Operation
COOLING FAN CONTROL MODULEThe cooling fan control module is responsible for sending power to the electric motor-driven cooling fans, when commanded by the Body Computer Module (BCM). A fan drive signal sent by the BCM is amplified by the fan control module into a strong output signal capable of powering one, or both, of the cooling fans. Its transistorized design enables the control module to command variable fan speeds ranging from half to full power, depending upon the input signal from the BCM.
A large heat sink is attached to the control module to dissipate heat generated by the module during normal operation.
CAUTION: Under certain operating conditions, the cooling fan control module will generate a significant amount of heat. Hand injury may result if module removal is attempted before sink has cooled down sufficiently.
