Circuit/System Testing
NOTE:
Some control module ground circuits may require up to 20 min after the ignition is turned off before achieving a resistance reading of less than 5 Ω. In most cases the readings will drop below 20 Ω within 1 min indicating the control module is going to sleep.
- Ignition OFF and all vehicle systems OFF, disconnect the harness connectors at the K212 Gear Shift Control Module. It may take up to 2 min for all vehicle systems to power down.
- Verify a test lamp illuminates between ground circuit terminal 20 and B+.
- If the test lamp does not illuminate
Repair the open/high resistance on circuit 1850 or the ground connection.
- Go to next step: If the test lamp illuminates
- If the test lamp does not illuminate
- Verify a test lamp illuminates between B+ circuit terminal 9 and ground.
- If the test lamp does not illuminate and the circuit fuse is good
- Test circuit 7040 for an open/high resistance.
- If an open/high resistance is found, repair the fault on the circuit.
- Go to next step: If an open/high resistance is not found.
- Replace the X51A Fuse Block - Instrument Panel for an internal fault.
- If the test lamp does not illuminate and the circuit fuse is open
- Test circuit 7040 for a short to ground.
- If a short to ground is found, repair the fault on the circuit.
- Go to next step: If a short to ground is not found.
- Replace K212 Gear Shift Control Module.
- Go to next step: If the test lamp illuminates
- Ignition ON.
- Verify a test lamp illuminates between ignition circuit terminal 17 and ground.
- If the test lamp does not illuminate and the circuit fuse is good
- Test circuit 1239 for an open/high resistance.
- If an open/high resistance is found, repair the fault on the circuit.
- Go to next step: If an open/high resistance is not found.
- Replace the X51A Fuse Block - Instrument Panel for an internal fault.
- If the test lamp does not illuminate and the circuit fuse is open
- Test circuit 1239 for a short to ground.
- If a short to ground is found, repair the fault on the circuit.
- Go to next step: If a short to ground is not found.
- Replace K212 Gear Shift Control Module.
- Go to next step: If the test lamp illuminates
- Replace the K212 Gear Shift Control Module.
