Installation Procedure
Position the steering gear (4) on the drivetrain and front suspension frame.
- Install the steering gear bolts (3), washers (2), and nuts (1).
Install NEW bolts.
- Tighten the NEW steering gear bolts (3).
Tighten
- First Pass: 100 N.m (74 lb ft)
- Final Pass: (90 - 105 degrees)
- Install the front stabilizer shaft on the drivetrain and front suspension frame. Stabilizer Shaft Replacement
- Raise the rear of the drivetrain and front suspension frame.
- Install ALL drivetrain and front suspension frame bolts. Drivetrain and Front Suspension Frame Replacement (Long Cradle)Drivetrain and Front Suspension Frame Replacement (Short Cradle)Drivetrain and Front Suspension Frame Replacement (Long Cradle - V5O)
- Remove the adjustable stands from underneath the vehicle.
- Rear Transmission Mount Through Bolt - Install - Transmission Rear Mount Replacement (FWD) Transmission Rear Mount Replacement (AWD)
- Exhaust Isolator @ Drivetrain and Front Suspension Frame - Install [2x] - Exhaust Front Pipe Replacement (LUV)Exhaust Front Pipe Replacement (LE2)
- Front Lower Control Arm @ Steering Knuckle - Install [2x] - Lower Control Arm Replacement
- Front Stabilizer Shaft Link @ Front Stabilizer Shaft - Install [2x] - Stabilizer Shaft Link Replacement
- Steering Linkage Outer Tie Rod @ Steering Knuckle - Install [2x] - Steering Linkage Outer Tie Rod Replacement
- Install the front tire and wheel assemblies. Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation
- Install the intermediate steering shaft lower universal joint. Intermediate Steering Shaft Replacement (NJ1)
- Measure and adjust the wheel alignment. Wheel Alignment Measurement
CAUTION:
This vehicle is equipped with torque-to-yield or single use fasteners. Install a NEW torque-to-yield or single use fastener when installing this component. Failure to replace the torque-to-yield or single use fastener could cause damage to the vehicle or component.
NOTE:
Start ALL fasteners by hand before tighten ing.
