Installation Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2016 Buick LaCrosse. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

  1. Position the front lower control arm (2) on the vehicle.
  2. CAUTION:

    This vehicle is equipped with torque-to-yield or single use fasteners. Install a NEW torque-to-yield or single use fastener when installing this component. Failure to replace the torque-to-yield or single use fastener could cause damage to the vehicle or component.

    NOTE:
    • Install ALL of the front lower control arm bolts and nuts before tightening.
    • The front lower control arm and front suspension should be brought to trim height level BEFORE any fasteners are tightened to specification.
  3. Install Front Lower Control Arm Front Bolt (5)

    Install a NEW bolt.

  4. Install, but do NOT tighten Front Lower Control Arm Front Nut (4)

    Install a NEW bolt.

  5. CAUTION:

    Refer to Fastener Caution .

  6. Tighten Front Lower Control Arm Front Bolt (5)

    Tighten

    1. First Pass: 100 N.m (74 lb ft)
    2. Final Pass: (75-90 degrees)
  7. Install Steering Knuckle Bolt (1)

    Install a NEW bolt.

  8. Install and tighten Steering Knuckle Nut (3)

    Tighten

    1. First Pass: 115 N.m (85 lb ft)
    2. Final Pass: (120-135 degrees)

  10. Install Front Lower Control Arm Rear Bolt (2) (Qty: 2)

    Install NEW bolts.

  11. Install and tighten Front Lower Control Arm Rear Nut (1) (Qty: 2)

    Install NEW nuts.

    Tighten

    1. First Pass: 100 N.m (74 lb ft)
    2. Final Pass: (75-90 degrees)
  12. Connect any harnesses or retainers previously disconnected from the front lower control arm.
  13. If equipped, connect the electronic suspension front position sensor to the front lower control arm.
  14. Install the front tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation
  15. Measure and adjust the wheel alignment. Refer to Wheel Alignment Measurement
