July 1: So it begins. Don't worry, this is not in the correct legal jurisdiction!

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the power steering pump pulley. Refer to Power Steering Pulley Replacement (3.8L)  or Power Steering Pulley Replacement (3.6L) .
  2. Remove the caps from the power steering pump fittings and hoses.
  3. Position the power steering pump (1) on the engine.
  4. Install the power steering pump mounting bolts. HAND TIGHTEN ONLY.
  5. NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.
  6. Tighten the mounting bolt (3).

    Tighten:  Tighten the mounting bolt (3) to 50 N.m (37 lb ft).

  7. Tighten the rear power steering pump mounting bolt (2).

    Tighten:  Tighten the rear power steering pump mounting bolt (2) to 50 N.m (37 lb ft).

  8. IMPORTANT: Clean the material from the power steering pressure hose and install a new seal.
  9. Connect the power steering pressure hose to the power steering pump.

    Tighten:  Tighten the hose to 40 N.m (30 lb ft).

  10. Connect the power steering reservoir outlet hose to the power steering pump.
  11. Install the right front tire and wheel. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels.
  12. Lower the vehicle.
  13. Install the drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement in Engine Mechanical - 3.6L (3.6L).
  14. Remove the drain pan from under the vehicle.
  15. Bleed the power steering system. Refer to Power Steering System Bleeding .
  16. Inspect the system for leaks. Refer to Power Steering Fluid Leaks .
