Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the accessory drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement (L36) or Drive Belt Replacement (L67) in Engine Mechanical-3.8L.
  2. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  3. Remove the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels.

  4. Remove the power steering pressure hose from the power steering pump. Refer to Power Steering Pressure Pipe/Hose Replacement (3.1L)  or Power Steering Pressure Pipe/Hose Replacement (3.8L) .
  5. Remove the power steering return hose from the power steering pump. Refer toPower Steering Return Hose Replacement (3.1L)  or Power Steering Return Hose Replacement (3.8L) .

  6. Remove the electrical connector (4) from the power steering pump (1).

  7. Remove the power steering mounting bolts from the power steering pump.
  8. Remove the power steering pump.
  9. Remove the power steering pump reservoir from the power steering pump. Refer to Power Steering Reservoir Replacement - Off Vehicle (CB Series) .
  10. Remove the power steering pump pulley from the power steering pump. Refer to Power Steering Pulley Replacement (3.1L)  or Power Steering Pulley Replacement (W/3.8L) .
